Not a good night for Local and Riverstown Inn.

The opening salvo’s in the Cork Darts Organisation 2018/19 season  began on Monday night last with a full series of matches across all four divisions and it certainly was not a good night for the newcomers to the top division the Local and Riverstown Inn.

The Local went down at home as they opened their Fosters sponsored super league campaign against the Joshua Tree going under by 6-1 while the Riverstown Inn after their away encounter to the Maple Leaf returned home 5-2 worse off.

Hennessy’s welcomed the Groves to Mayfield and in a most entertaining and close game it was the Groves who came through on a 4-3 scoreline with the remaining game in the Fosters super division saw the Harp claim a 5-2 home win against the Top of the Hill.

Hennessy’s second string operating in the Fosters first division did a bit more than their top team as they came away from their trip to the Island Tavern with a 5-2 win while Quinlan’s also secured a 5-2 away win as they accounted for near neighbours the Gerald Griffin also in the first division.

Old Reliable were fully worth their 5-2 win away against the Groves and the Gallows second team put in a sterling show as they put six past the River Lane in a fine performance again here in the first division.

Over in the River Lane sponsored junior league Carrigaline GAA came away from their visit to the Glenryan Tavern as 4-3 victors while St, Vincent’s hit five points against the Red Cove Inn for the loss of just two games.

Also in the junior divisionBlackpool Tavern opened their account with a 5-2 home win against the Muskerry Arms and the Residence also scored well on Monday night last as they opened their account with a 5-2 win at home against the Local.
