Ladies individual championship is center stage at the Joshua Tree

The Cork Darts Orginisation Ladies leagues resumed last Thursday after the summer break.  Newly promoted to the A division, the Local bar got their league campaign underway with their first win at top level, beating the Residence 3-2. Kay Monaher of the Local, was first up against Laura Murphy and got the first point for the Local, winning 2-0. Next up for the Residence was Yvonne O’Brien, facing Aileen O’Donoghue. Yvonne went 1 up in this battle before Aileen levelled the score. In a close 3rd leg, it was Aileen that hit the winning double, putting the Local in to a 2-0 lead.  Caroline Coutts was up next for the Residence, against Charlotte Barry.  With a wealth of experience at top level, Caroline cruised through her game, winning 2-0, and got the first point on the board for the Residence. Marie Healy continued the comeback for the Residence, beating Deirdre Long 2-0 and bringing the contest to a tie. Last season’s B player of the year, Martina Murphy, was in next for the Local, facing Sarah Fielding of the Residence, and it was Martina who came out on top with a 2-0 win. Other results in the ladies saw the Friars Walk Tavern beat Horgan’s 4-1; Ma Dullea’s beat the Joshua tree 5-0 and the Gallows beat the Glenryan (2) 4-1.
 
The Ladies will hold separate A & B individuals at the Joshua tree on Thursday, October 10th. Entries will close and the draw will be made at the delegate meeting next Tuesday night, October 8th at the Residence Bar. 
 
Results from the men’s Super League saw Rosies winning 4-1 against the Local, the Gallows beat Maple Leaf, also 4-1. The final tie in that section saw Hennessy’s beat the Joshua Tree 3-2.
In Section 2, the Groves travelled to the Riverstown Inn, registering a 3-2 win, Quinlan’s beat Top of the Hill on the same score-line and Ma Dullea’s had a bye.
In section 1 of the Fosters 1st Division, Riverlane 1 were hosts to the Riverstown inn, with the home team winning 4-1, Baker Street won 5-0 against Aunties and the Residence had a bye. In Section 2, Carrigaline GAA travelled to Hennessy’s, and it was the Carrigaline team that came out on top with a 5-0 win. The Riverlane 2 travelled to Blackpool to play the Groves,  leaving with a 3-2 win.  Hannah Bawns had a bye.
Division 2 saw Glenryan 1 beating Shamrock bar 3-2, Local beat Glenryan (2) 4-1, Redcove beat Residence 4-1 and Joshua tree had a bye.
In the Junior League, Riverlane lost 3-2 to the Island Tavern, Fox & Hounds beat Jack Fords 3-2, Muskerry arms beat the Gallows 3-2 and the Tower bar beat Ma Dullea’s 3-2.
