Doubles championship and plate at Vincent’s.

Despite a flimsy start to the 2019/2020 season, the Joshua Tree (1) sit on top of section 1 in the Cork Darts Orginisation Super league, leading by just a point, on 17.  Hennessy’s and Rosies are right on their toes with 16 points each. The Gallows are on 10 with the Local and the Maple Leaf on 8, as we reach the half way stage of the Fosters League.

In section 2, the Groves top with 18 points, the Riverstown Inn and Top of the hill have 16, Quinlans are on 15 and Ma Dullea’s have 10.

Friends in the bar turned to foes on the oche at the Glenryan Tavern last Monday as Glenryan (1) faced Glenryan (2) in the CDO Fosters 2nd Division.  Timmy Crowley was first up for the Glenryan (2) against Pat McCarthy and Crowley won that game 2-1. Next up was Jim Heagerty for the Glenryan (1) to face Stephen Cunningham and it was Heagerty to win 2-1, bringing the tie to a 1-1 draw.  Liam Downey made it 2-1 to the Glenryan (1) by beating John Magee but Keith O’Callaghan brought the contest to a draw once again beating Paul O’Leary 2-1. With it all to play for, the Glenryan (1) had Paul Philpott in next, to play John Kelleher. Philpott went 1 up, but after missing 1 dart at double 16 to win the match, Kelleher checked out 64 to bring the game to a deciding leg. It was a close encounter all the way to a double but it was Kelleher that was first to hit the winner and sealed a 3-2 win for the Glenryan (1).  Also, in that division, the Local beat the Joshua Tree 3-2 and the Shamrock bar beat the Residence 4-1.
