Groves suffer setback against Riverstown Inn

The quarter final stage for the Second and Junior divisions of the Cork Darts Orginisation Fosters leagues will take place on Monday night November 18.  The Local will host the 2nd Division fixtures and games are set to start at 9:30pm. The Glenryan (2) and the Local (2) await the winners of the Joshua tree V Shamrock Bar and Glenryan (1) V Redcove.

The Junior Division games will be held at the River Lane, Blarney street.  The Gallows jumped from 3rd place to 1st and advance to a semi-final spot, by getting a 5-0 win against the Tower bar last week.  Bernard McCarthy started the winning streak for the Gallows with a 2-0 victory against Jason Murphy.  Following that, Terry Ryan, Ciaran Coifer and Michael Shubart registered 2-0 wins against Jason O’Flynn, Connie Buckley and Dean Murphy.  The final game of the contest was Eddie Madigan for the Gallows facing Paul O’Sullivan for the Tower.  O’Sullivan was about to dampen the prospects of the Gallows topping the group by going 1 up but Madigan found form at the right time and checked out the next 2 legs, gaining a vital point for the Gallows.  Joining the Gallows in the semi-finals are the Muskerry Arms and they both await the winners of Jack Fords V the Tower and Fox & Hounds V the Island Tavern.

In the Super league, the Groves suffered their first defeat of their campaign losing 3-2 to the Riverstown Inn in Blackpool.  The Maple Leaf hit the Gallows for 4 with a 4-1 win in Blackrock.  The Joshua Tree, Rosies and Top of the hill all registered 5-0 wins against Hennessy’s, the Local and Quinlans. Tonight, the local V Gallows, Joshua Tree V Rosies, Maple Leaf V Hennessy’s, Riverstown Inn V Ma Dullea’s, Quinlans V the Groves and Top of the Hill have a bye.

In Division 1, the River Lane beat Riverstown Inn 4-1 and Bakers Street were also 4-1 winners against Aunties.  Hennessy’s went to Carrigaline GAA and it was the home side that won 3-2. The Groves went to the Riverlane and from 2 down, came back and won 3-2. Tonight, the Groves will play at home to Carrigaline GAA, Residence entertain Bakers Street and River Lane (1) travel to tower to play Aunties.

The CDO charity night will be held at the Joshua Tree bar this Friday night with all proceeds going to Cork City missing Persons Search & Recovery. Entries are now closed and players are requested to be present at the for 8:30pm. A fun and eventful night is guaranteed and top-class tungsten is sure to be on display. All are welcome to attend and support this well worthy cause.

The next delegate meeting will be held on November 19th at the Joshua Tree bar at 8:30pm.Mark Farrell
