Groves do a double on Baker Street.

The Semifinals and final of the Cork Darts Orginisation Fosters sponsored 1st Division cup took place last Monday night at the Joshua Tree bar. In the semifinals, Bakers Street claimed their spot in the final, beating Carrigaline GAA 3-1, and the Groves (2) got the better of the Old Reliable, 3-2.  It was a repeat of the previous cup final, with the Groves facing Bakers Street and it was the same result as the Groves were victors by 3 games to 1. Paul O’ Callaghan got Bakers street off to a winning start, beating Brendan Long 3-1. But the winning streak for the Groves started with Paul Leahy winning his game 3-0 against Robert O’Connor. Next in for Bakers street was Gavin O’Connor, facing John O’Callaghan. O’Callaghan took a 2-0 lead, but O’Connor brought the game to par with 15 and 14 dart legs. It was level pegging all the way to the double in the deciding leg but it was O’Callaghan that was first to hit the winner to bring the Groves within 1 game to win the match.  Derek Sheehy was in next for Bakers Street and it was Gary Lane for the Groves.  A see-saw game saw Sheehy going 1 up, Lane bringing it to 1-1, then Lane went 2-1 up but Sheehy leveled the game once again.  In the 5th and deciding leg, it was Lane that pushed hardest and checked out on double 6 to seal the win for the Groves. Captain for the Groves, John Moynihan was presented with the cup by Martin Cotter, CDO.
