Cork Darts Organisation tops ahead.

The seventy-first staging of the Cork Darts Organisation men’s city individual championship will take place at St, Vincent’s Hurling and Football club on Friday March 22 at the Blarney Road venue.

Entries for this competition are currently being accepted and will be confined to the first 80 paid-up entries received with the draw being made on Tuesday March 12 at the Joshua Tree.

The competition which is sponsored by Jason Galway painting and decorating will carry a total prize fund of €1,200 with 500 going to the winner, 300 to the runner-up 100 to each of the semifinalists and 50 to each of the quarterfinalists.

Since April past alone, contrary to some information that was wrongly put out there the Cork Darts Organisation paid out prize money for the following competitions as follows: Premier players individual league €1,800, Easter darts gala €2,000 , October darts gala €2,000, New year darts gala €1,800, Cork city men’s individual championship €1,600, CDO charity shield €500, CDO ladies singles €500 and with €1,200 and another €1,800 coming up for the city individuals and the Easter darts Gala respectively that certainly puts to bed who is at the top of the league when it comes to the top prize pay-out of recent times.

A little research is always good before one puts pen to paper in any definitive manner as most of the time the answer is at the end of a phone or in these modern times all can be researched on social media and Organisation websites.

Tonight will be a busy one on the Cork Darts Organisation calendar with the playing of the semifinals and final in both the Fosters first and  and second division cups and two quarterfinals in the Fosters super cup at the Gallows.

The Joshua Tree will play host to the Fosters first division semifinals and final with the line-up here as follows: Gerald Griffin v Baker Street and Gallows v Old Reliable with and 8.30 start for both and final to follow.

The Local on Military Hill will stage both semifinals and final of the Fosters second division featuring Carrigaline GAA v Aunties and Local v Blackpool Sports Tavern both at 8.30 with final to follow.

The Gallows on Bandon Road is the venue for the playing of both quarterfinals of the Fosters super cup and sees Riverstown Inn facing off against the Joshua Tree and Hennessy’s taking on the Groves with darts on the oche here for both quarterfinals timed for 9.30pm start.

A date for the calendar will be Easter Monday April 22 at St, Vincents for the annual CDO  darts gala which will have a 4pm kick-off.

Best wishes from the CDO to both Cork ladies and men’s teams taking part in the INDO inter-counties championships in Ennis over this coming weekend.

Sympathy of the CDO is extended to the Horgan family of the Maple Leaf on a recent bereavement.

Delegate meeting tomorrow night at the Joshua Tree.
